Sèrrone
3,4 ha · 232 m · South-west · 1961
The oldest vines on the estate, bush-trained. Picked by hand into 15 kg crates because no tractor fits between the rows.
SD—01 · Cirò Rosso Classico DOC
The everyday bottle — which is the hardest kind to get right.
Tasting
Gaglioppo is not a grape you drink with your eyes: pale ruby, almost see-through at the rim, and anyone expecting something black is caught off guard. Then the nose arrives — blood orange, dried oregano, wet earth after the first August storm — and the tannin, fine but there, holding it together without drying you out.

The most even and most generous parcel: this is where the backbone of the Rosso Classico comes from.
The ledger
Two letters a year: one in March when the vintage is released, one in October when harvest is in. Nothing else.
